My 5 Favorite Things: Fall Edition
I don’t need to tell you that life is crazy right now; after all, being a Mom is always kind of nuts! That’s why it is so important for us to create space and flow in our lives, and to find things that lift us up.
It’s also true that the little things really do make a difference. Right now I have five “little” things that are bringing me so much joy that I just had to share. They are keeping me together and making me happy, even when the day (or world) is just too much.
5 Things Saving My Life Right Now
Music. Is it weird that I am super proud of this fall playlist? Music has the power to change your mood, and this playlist is perfect for cozy fall days. So light a candle, and hit “play” as you go about the day.
Mindset. I decided in September that I wanted to stop eating junk food and get healthier. My natural tendency is to go all-in with things, and this all-or-nothing mindset has been a challenge for me in the past when I attempted to eat better or exercise more.
I found the 2B Mindset program from Beachbody (LOVE), and I lost 8lbs the first month! It is totally different than things I have tried in the past, because it really focuses on what you can do and eat, rather than what you can’t. It’s about looking at eating healthier without any shame. Now I’m eating more vegetables (my kids are eating more, too!), and I am fitting back into my clothes again. YAY!
If you have struggled with mindset around diets or eating better, then I highly recommend that you give 2B Mindset a try.
Egg Roll in a Bowl. Ever since I discovered this recipe, I’ve been making it one or two times a week. It’s super simple and fast to make, my husband loves it, and once you try the spicy sauce on top, you’ll love it as much as I do! I even “cheat” and buy bagged coleslaw mix to make things even easier, and I swear I have lost weight just by eating this dish. Healthy and yummy? Yes please!
Making My Own Veggie Tray. So maybe this isn’t life-changing for you, but I have started to make my own veggie tray instead of spending the big bucks for the pre-made ones. I spend a bit of time chopping up the veggies, and then Hazel and I can snack whenever we want over the next few days. She loves to dip her veggies, and I love that we are eating more vegetables.
Day Designer Planner. The Day Designer Planner is seriously one of my favorite things. It has a full page for each day, so I can see my whole day, start to finish. Lists and planners can be super-powerful tools when you are feeling overwhelmed by life, and this beauty helps me stay organized.
This amazing planner has a spot for my daily top-three priorities which I pull from my weekly to-do list, a little “gratitude box”, and tons of space to write down what is important that day. They just released the 2021 Day Designer Planner, which I am super stoked about! Now, which pattern do I want? 🧐
